I did this once and couldn't find a suitable key. I managed to "persuade" the door open with a sledge- no way I'd cough up €200 for the services of a locksmith for this scenario!
I'm astonished at you, Carpenter....a sledge....to open a door.
You should get 3 or 4 keys cut in case you lose them again.Got it sorted today lads...thanks for all your help! Got a set of Basta keys from a key-cutter after giving a €40 euro deposit and found the right one, came back and got deposit back and key cut. cheers
I know, I was desperate!

Some locksmiths have a large key ring that has one key of each type for a specific brand (e.g. basta locks).
You can take this home, try all the keys until you find the right one, go back to the shop, and they'll cut the key for you.
Should not cost you more than few euro.
I know you're desperate but did you have to use the sledge
More likely a toilet door!
Not quite, but an equally "troublesome" scenario, speculate no more!
Because they don't want to be disturbed in the jacks/bedroom etc. perhaps? What relevance is this to the original query anyway? Why do people have locks on internal doors?.
