I'm not sure if I imagined this but pretty sure I read somewhere in the past that there is/was an agreement in place whereby a LA staff member who is due to be redeployed, rather than waiting to see where they will eventually be redeployed to they can claim a role in another department that the LA is recruiting for once they are suitably qualified, they don't have to apply or interview for the role. Is or was there ever such an agreement in place?
The reason I ask is I am due to be redeployed and at the moment all I'm being told is I can indicate a preference for a department I'd like to switch to now or wait till the deadline and be offered a "suitable" role of the LA's choice.
I recently applied for and interviewed for another role in another department the same LA and was successful and am currently on a panel that will last for 1 year, I never mentioned anything in the application or interview that I am due to be redeployed because at the time I wasn't sure if I could consider myself to be suitably qualified for the role but now that I have been successful I could claim that I'm suitably qualified. I'm willing to wait and hopefully I will get the call before the end of the 12 months but I was thinking of getting in touch with HR if I hear nothing by about the 10 month mark to see if there's anything they can do but just want to make sure there is some sort of agreement in place before doing that.
I would appreciate any advice or information people might have.
