I need a new kitchen tap unit. I have ordered one on ebay. Is this a complicated job to install it? I can isolate the hot and cold water supply myself no problem. Is the plumbing part very difficult? I won't cut corners if people think I would be mad to attempt it.

There's some useful info there..thanks! Starting to think it's not such a tough job after all.

As long as you can isolate the sevice, then it is worth trying it yourself. It can get tricky, what type of tap is it?

This seems like an easy job and sometimes it is but it can also be a nightmare, especially as Dave says if you dont have the tools.

if you have to buy spanners enough for the job, dont, ring around ,a plumber or his mate would do it for 20-30 euros on their way home from work. not plugging for plumbers but if the nuts were put on tight to start and it they are there longer than 4-5 years because of the awkward place it can be a nightmare. have done loads even with the proper spanners, can be a nightmare.

Don't mind them OP. If you can turn off the water supply to those taps, then what do you have to lose ? Try to undo the existing nuts, if you can do that, then you're laughing and tightening the new ones will be a doddle. Plus you can look at it and say "I installed that" :)

Nice tap by the way....hope it's replacing an existing (single hole) mixer tap :)

may be easy if swopping like for like, seldom happens, you have to turn off water supply to whole house, if it goes wrong you will have no water or heating until a plumber comes, sorry if i amm scaring you , it is just so hard to work under a sink and behind the bowl.

THATS a great price for those taps.I'd be interested to know what you tought of their quality once you have thm in your hand. cheers

I got a tap on ebay from the same supplier - tapsukcom - and was very happy with it. I also got really nice taps on ebay from "Luxury for Less" - think they're now "iBathUK". My plumber was impressed with the taps from both suppliers.

IM just always weary of buying something i havent seen or held in the flesh . But it is i suppose good to hear whats not a horror story

any one can flood a kitchen, its great when your out and the diy job goes pop, hope you have good insurance.if your unsure get a plumber,he has insurance.
