In particular I'm buying a TV that will work with the PS3 and blu-ray which are both true HD formats.

Just wanted to say I'm a big fan of the LCD TVs. Got the 40'' Samsung LCD HD with the black surround and v-shape bottom last christmas. The picture is brilliant. Far better than any plasma I have seen. I bought some kind of special booster cable aswell, which is meant to help.
Only problem is I live in an apartment and am not allowed a satellite dish. I'm with NTL at the moment, but they do not offer HD broadcasts. Is there any other company who do?
I have this LCD too and love it. Have the matching cinema system too which is great. What's this special booster cable? Should I have one of these too?
Yeah, got one of the sony surround sound systems to go with mine, great combination. The assistant in the shop seemed to know his stuff (Although they are there to sell, sell, sell). It's a special scart lead that costs about E80 - E120 that runs from the DVD sound system to the TV. It's meant to give a fantastic picture with DVDs.

€80 to €120 is mad money for a scart lead. You can buy top of the line IXOS scarts from EBay for about €35 (same ones are €70 in the shops)
