Hi Suzie,
Yes, if a person already has a health insurance policy with Laya, they can switch to another Laya plan mid-term, with no penalties.
If they are upgrading cover, which is allowed, the usual pre-existing condition
waiting time applies.
This is confirmed on the HIA website under the heading 'switching'.
Current Market Practice
Laya Healthcare will provide a 14 day cooling-off period from your renewal date, where you may cancel, get a full refund and switch to an alternative plan.
You may switch to another laya plan mid-term, but switches to another insurer are not allowed mid-term. Laya will seek the full year's premium if you cancel mid-term.
