I have a HP laptop - Sometimes I leave it on (and battery plugged in) for days on my wooden coffee table (I don't have any other table top to work on). From time to time, the battery gets extremely hot.
Subsequently, I now have a burn mark on my coffee table.
I know the obvious solution is to just turn it off every day.
Does anyone know of some kind of base I can use to sit the laptop on that won't be dammaged from the heat?
When we bought our laptop we were advised that if we werre using it at home to take out the battery and use the power from the socket. Apparently you can lenghten the battery life because it's not being plugged in and charged frequently. Every so often I put the battery in and let it run down and charge it up fully. I was a bit sceptical about this but when I googled laptop batteries I came up with the same advice again and again. The transformer does get quite hot when it's plugged in for a while
