Laptop - hot battery -

I have a HP laptop - Sometimes I leave it on (and battery plugged in) for days on my wooden coffee table (I don't have any other table top to work on). From time to time, the battery gets extremely hot.

Subsequently, I now have a burn mark on my coffee table.

I know the obvious solution is to just turn it off every day.

Does anyone know of some kind of base I can use to sit the laptop on that won't be dammaged from the heat?

Thanks

A 'dinner meal' placemat will do the trick.

Mind you pretty much anything sensible you put it on will prevent a mark from getting to the table.

you can get laptop mats too. I have seen them in some computer stores and online.

As the previous poster mentioned anything will do !!

I was weary of using dinner mats - figured they would be as bad as the wooden table.

I'll have a look around for laptop-mats.

Thanks for the help

When we bought our laptop we were advised that if we werre using it at home to take out the battery and use the power from the socket. Apparently you can lenghten the battery life because it's not being plugged in and charged frequently. Every so often I put the battery in and let it run down and charge it up fully. I was a bit sceptical about this but when I googled laptop batteries I came up with the same advice again and again. The transformer does get quite hot when it's plugged in for a while

I got a laptop riser in argos for €29.

You put your laptop on it, either at an angle or flat and beause of the space underneath the battery doesn't heat up - lots of airflow.

Hell of a lot easier to type too because its not lying flat.

check it out. My laptop is on 10 hours a day on a wooden table and it still looks nice!
