JSB at 65 is given to those retiring at 65 and that includes those who are unemployed at the same time from many posts i have read in AAM. In Here it explains you can also get JSB at 66 however in doing so you will not get any pension credits added to your record. I wld appreciate your thoughts on the following:

1. Do you get credits when you are in receipt of JSB from 65 to 66. My guess is yes.

2. Can you claim JSB at 65 and then at 66 decide you want to refer your pension to 67? Or would you be told "ah no my friend you now need to retire at 66 coz that was the condition to get you JSB" in the first place.

3. What would be the point in getting JSB from 66 to 70? Just curious on that one coz u dont get any credit added in your records. Why not get your pension instead?
Is this just a method to stop anyone using this method in getting "free" credits or does any one can think of a good reason for it?

1. You get credits for this year.

2. You can decide to defer.
Claiming Jobseekers Benefit or Benefit Payment 65 does not change your rights to defer.

3. If you are short of 2080 Prsi contributions you can gain more if you defer. These can come from voluntary contributions or class S contributions.

If you can claim Jobseekers benefit during the pension deferral period, it part compensates for your loss of pension due to deferral.

If your pension will be less than Jobseekers benefit, you will get a larger payment if you claim Jobseekers benefit for as long as possible and defer your pension.

This will have the added advantage of increasing your weekly pension because of the increased payment after deferral.

Brilliant info! Thanks!

So just to be clear. You could get your Benefit payment @ 65 when you are 66 too and get credits from an ARF at class S (for more than 5000 distribution)?
