Jobseeker's Query

hello,

my son is completing a masters in primary school teaching. lectures completed, only thing left is 2 weeks in the Gaeltacht. In the meantime, he's working a lot of full time time teachers 'subbing'.

he was turned down for job seekers on the basis he's a full time student even though he's available for full time work and working it in some cases. he technically is finished as a student in mid August 2019.

is it worth appealing this to Social Welfare?

thanks

We had the same problem - the local social welfare people were very helpful but had to check with Head Office and it wasn't allowed.

I am due to qualify as a primary teacher in October. I subbed up until the end of June. I have only just heard that I can potentially qualify for jobseekers for July and August ? Am I too late to apply for it?
What is needed in applying?

No you are not too late, just apply online for Jobseekers on mywelfare.ie and it's a 20 minute form, you will need a public services card if you don't have one. If the Department of Education is your payroll provider DSP will liaise with them for any details regarding holiday pay and set you up on Jobseekers.
