Wonder could anyone advise.

Family of 4, thankfully no health issues. Kids aged 7 & 10

Been with VHI last few years, two adults on the ONE PLAN 250, and the two kids on the ONE+Plan, coming in at €183 per month / €2196 per annum

I am determined to get this down to the lowest it can go - even considering do we really need it? Do the kids need to be on it?

All we are interested in is being able to see a consultant should we need to. The fear factor...

I rang VHI and went through the whole policy again, they even put me through to the 'specialist team' because our wages are down due to Covid.
But they came back with a policy slightly more than we are paying? Saying best they can do is adults stay on ONE PLAN 250 and the kids move to ONE PLAN 250 as well, and we increase our excess. After all this, it still comes in as more than what we pay at €187.78 / €2253.36.

Anyone know can we go lower?

Updating my research for anyone interested.

Thank you Alkers86. I enquired about that option and they offered it at me at a 5% discretionary rate of €2120.60 per annum.

They also discussed a Covid hardship support as our income was affected by covid, but this came in slightly more than we already pay so no use.

VHI Public Plus care, no private hospital access, but access to public hospitals as a private patient. Without day to day refund over, comes in at €1246.44 / €103.87. Can upgrade in future (any pre-existing medical conditions diagnosed 6 months before contract begins then you must wait 2 years. New conditions covered immediately once cover starts)
