Health Insurance Is there some way to help people choose which health insurance package to go for?

I was listening to Dermot Goode yesterday and he was as good as his name.

But I was bewildered.

Would it be possible for us as a group to identify the best and worst products for the different categories.

For example... and this is off the top of my head

Category

	Best	Avoid
Healthy person so low cost to avoid later loading	Laya plan super jackpot advanced	VHI Plan Z with knobs on
Dublin based wanting access to high tech hospitals
Cork based ...
For older people, covering orthopaedic procedures
Maternity cover
Cover for children
Happy to pay high excess and day to day expenses but wants hi-tech hospitals

Hi Brendan,

Its a good idea/intention but I would think that its stymied by the fact that there are far too many plans out there between the 4 companies. The avoid plans section could be rather long

I agree 100% with @Sue Ellen. There are 337 different plans on offer at the moment and trying to come up with a list of specific recommendations for specific customer profiles seems very ambitious, if not impossible. Maybe something like AI will be able to help at some stage but even that might really need specific training.

Thanks very much Brendan I think it’s a great idea. We Miss SnowyB who was brilliant and so knowledgeable and able to cut through the plans and find the best ones It’s such a minefield. There are some great contributors on here who could give opinions with the proviso that the person would have to research the suitability to them individually.

Eh, that is the point!

There seems to be some good ones and some very bad ones.

So I would see it as narrowing down the search a bit.
