Irish national never lived outside Ireland but bank are requesting Foreign Credit Check

Looking to switch mortgages and have had a foreign saving account for years (Brexit worries) and AIB bank is asking me to provide a foreign credit check.
I am puzzled as to why AIB bank is requesting that I do the credit check, I have never lived outside the country...

They mentioned an American credit company but I am concerned because I have heard horror stories regarding data breaches.
Considering AIB also has a UK arm would it not make sense that they do the credit check on me?
 
Running into this now with AIB, for everywhere I've held an online savings account. But I have never had an address in those countries, so in many cases can't even request a credit check.

For now I've replied saying it's not possible as I've never lived abroad, but confirming that I have never taken out credit/loans from a foreign bank or associated with a foreign address.
