Hi guys

just wondering if anyone knows of a good contact to get a qoute for the supply and installation of a central heating system.

We have just bought a house that had no system installed although there is a Gas line that has been brought up to the house.

We need a complete system supplied and installed in a 3 bed house (circa 1000 sq ft)

I know the price will depend on factors such as type of system and how many radiators etc but just looking to see if anyone has any good contacts.

I will ring around to get a few quotes

Any ideas how much this may cost (ballpark) if anyone has done similar recently?
 
know of one guy based south-side Dublin but does travel and have only had my customers say good things about him

Blackrock. I presume anyone doing the work needs to be certified or authorise by bord Gais? or can this be done afterwards?

There is no legal requirement to be BG registered to work on gas in this country.....yet. If the house hasn't a gas meter, BG will supply but will only turn on after they receive a cert of conformity. Which will have to be issued by a BG registered gas installer. If an unregistered installer does the works a cert will cost €150 from a registered installer.

As regard to cost, you will have to put in a high effieceny boiler which start from about €900 upwards,
How many rads in property and do you have or will you need a hot water cylinder?
or are you going with a combi boiler? (instant hot water from gas fired boiler that does both central heating and hot water)

There is a gas meter as there was previously gas installed for a cooker in the old kitchen.

We need to install a completely new Central Heating system. I know it will have to be condensed etc but not sure what type to go for.

I have to take it that the current hot water cylinder is also banjaxed so will probably have to install a new one also (and move the location of it)

Ideally I would like as efficient a system as possible so I think that a system that heats the water as well would be best. (may also look into the possibility of incorporating solar panel at a later stage).

Need between 8 and 10 radiators (the ones with the thermo valves one them)

Have been quoted approx 7-8K to supply and fit above (not including the hot water cylinder and ignoring the solar panel)

Not sure whether this reflects good value or not as its the first time I have done this and its the only quote I have got so far

Any thoughts?
 
I would recommend a Coppercraft Pheonix 300 litre dual Coil hot water cylinder if your changing, we just upgraded ours and couln't be happier, we bought the 3.5 bar pump with it so everything is pumped which is great. Also we can attach solar panels to the roof after as the second coil in the tank is for that.

No connection with coppercraft just a happy customer :D
 
Not too bad, Would recommond you make allowances now for solar panels. IE fit a dual coiled cylinder now to accomodate solar panel pipework in future.

Get three quotes from anyone from golden pages and compare. Listen carefully to installers and see if they are saying the same thing. A little knowledge on your side will go along way so don't be afraid to repeat what one installer has told you when discussing project with another installer.

Shop around and you will save money.

Does the quote of 7-8K sound reasonable enough for the works (ex cylinder). I will get more quotes but just wondering if this is a good ball park figure?
 
it depends on if its 7k or 8k. A cylinder could cost up to €1500 depending on which one you go for. Everything job is different so it is hard to give a price.

Boiler up from €900 to €1600

10 rads @ £100 euro a rad (high estimate). For €1000 this should include TRV (thermostatic radiator valves) and there will be change

Stanard 130 L inslulated dual coil copper cylinder €170 (this will depend on cylinder, they vary alot)
immersion €45

you will be going for hot water only, motorised valve €75
Time clock €50
Sparks to wire all electrics, Approx €300

Then you have all pipework and fittings.

Expect to pay a tradesman/men €250 plus VAT a day.

The longest it would take would be 6 days for one man

Stick on a percentage for profit and upmark on supplies and add 13.5% VAT
