Why has no one pointed out to minister McDowell when he states that '£500 back when the legislation was originally enacted (in 1996) was a considerable sum of money, and the new amount of €2,000 is reflective of the changing times' (or words to that effect, I can't find the actual quote) that he is effectively saying that inflation is of the order of 200% since the current coalition took power in 1997.
