"I am 50 should, I make Class 3 contributions to UK pension?"

How long are they taking in responding to the CF83? Is there a number you can call to follow up?

Fast enough reply time with online application. In my case just over 4 weeks between application and letter confirming class 2. Postal applications seem to take much longer, possibly several months. The important thing now is to get the application in, or to register with a call back from future pensions. Once you do this before April 5th they will honour your application.

Thanks, did mine online about 2 weeks ago. Did you get moved from class 3 to 2?
No I was assessed as class 2 from my first application. Miraculously I fulfilled all the criteria having worked in the UK for just over 2 years in the early 1990s.

they said I had 6 years including the 3 free years but assigned me class 3. I just sent the form stating that, and they replied with a yes.

So it looks like you absolutely need at least 3 years work in UK to qualify for class 2, if you have less probably get class 3 but nobody I have seen on these forums has got class 2 contributions with less than 3 years work record in UK?

I had 3 free years, and worked part-time for 18 months that straddled three tax years. None of the working years had full contributions and I qualified for Class 2.

Yes but you were lucky enough on their system to be credited with 3 years, if somehow your work did not straddle 3 years you would not have qualified for class 2, that seems to be how they have done it
