How to calculate holiday pay entitlements for an occasional full time worker?

Hi all. Hope you can help my daughter figure out what holiday pay she is entitled to..
She is part time(weekends) for most of the year as she is at college but during the summer months she works full time. So far this year she has worked just over 1200 hours and has taken no holidays.
8% would be 96 hours, which is what her employer has told her she is owed. But I see here CI(can't link as don't have enough posts yet) that she could use a different calculation for the months where she worked over 117 hours total which is 5 months of the year so far. This way would give her more holiday pay.

So which way would be the right way to calculate what she is entitled to? Just at the standard 8% or a combination of 2 methods? Thanks

Hi Lisette. The calculation is 1/3 of a working week if you do over 117 hours in a month. Assume she did 36 hours a week for a 4 week month. 1/3 of a week gives 12 hours holiday. The 8% method would give 11.52 hours. 36 x4 x 8%

As the employer has agreed on 8%. I don't think it's worth arguing for an extra 2 hours in total

The employer may have chosen 8%, but the correct option is the one most beneficial to the employee.
As Mizen Head says, is it worth antagonising the employer who provides such flexible work?
