Curious to know what people are paying occasional evening babysitters in Dublin? Ours is 18 years old, no experience. Evening time. Two children, mainly in bed. Thanks

Similar - 2 kids, usually already in bed. We say a tenner an hour, but then always round up (so eg, end up paying €40 for 3 and a half hours).

Your babysitter is getting a good deal! I am thinking €12 for our 18 year old sitter. I find they normally power through a fair amount of food too :)
We always leave a few chocolate bars etc but they don’t tend to eat them. We’ve two best friends who decide between them who does it. I do think that you have to pay to see them home. When ours were very small we paid for our babysitter to get home at night. With the teenagers we walk them round.

I pay €15 an hour in dublin, for one 6yo who is usually asleep!
For €15 per hour CASH to babysit a sleeping child, I’d happily take on the job myself.

I’d forego the chocolate but if I had access to a Sky subscription and a bottle of Redbreast 12, so much the better. Plus, I wouldn’t need to be walked home.

If the child should wake, I’d be happy to school him/her in the basics of Texas Hold Em - a skill for which they would thank me in years to come.

My daughter is an NQT teacher and babysits for 2 girls she has been babysitting for years its €10 and hour and her take is that its petrol money and every bit helps.

Don't forget it's a babysitters market...if you underpay then you will find yourselves struggling to get one as word spreads. Yes it's money for jam in some cases but what is the alternative if you want a night out? We pay 10 p/h to our teenage babysitters in Dublin for mostly already in bed kids supervision. For a big big night out in town we call in favours from family so we aren't watching the clock. But all kinds of nights out are rare these days!
