It depends if the coroner decides to hold an inquest or not. If they do hold an inquest the death certificate issues after that. But in the meantime they can issue an interim certificate. Your next step is to ask the coroner what is happening. Sorry for your loss.

You could also ask the funeral directors for information, they can be very knowledgeable about the processes at times of loss.

In my experience (in a different county) the coroner didn’t issue an interim death cert automatically, it had to be requested.
