How do you find a leak ??

Thanks for the replies - managed to persuade the plumber to come back again this afternoon - he's saying we might have to take the shower tray out to see what's going on underneath.

A friend of mine who has a place in Spain had a shower installed recently and the plumber put what looked like roofing felt on the floor under the shower with a blow torch and said that this is the best way of waterproofing. Anyone ever heard of this? Does it work? Am tempted to do something like this if we have to take the shower tray out, just to make sure it doesn't happen again.

Ok, i am a plumber.

I would suspect that their is a hairline crack within the tray itself, which leaks when someone is in the shower.

I have seen this happen before.

Thanks glenamaddy,

At my wits end at this stage and the plumber is really frustrated as well!

We didn't see any cracks, but I suppose there could be a hairline one there. Might pour some black dye in and see if it collects/stains the crack, if there is one.

I posted this earlier but what about using the stuff you pour into your radiator(Car) if you have a leak. It's suppose to seal it from the inside?
