home insurance question

Hi

My ensuite shower started to leak recently. SO much so that it has leaked and damaged the ceiling underneath. I have taken the tiles off and realised that the tiles were put onto wood (acording to a tiler this should not have been done).

My questions are
1 - am I insured for a leaky shower?
2 - will the fact that the tiles were incorectly installed hinder my claim?

Any advice appreciated

the damage caused by the leaking water MIGHT be covered, depending on policy wording and conditions. The cost of tracing the leak might NOT be covered. That would mean the the damage to ceiling is covered, but not the cost of removing and replacing tiles.

Insurers would lke to know who installed the tiles and when, that they might go after him, in your name.
