My daughter has VHI ex pat insurance which I pay for. She is coming back home - what is the best value health insurance for her? She was on my Laya Connect Policy before the expat insurance. She's reluctant to get her own insurance but I tried to explain that if she doesn't have it for 13 weeks, there might be a waiting period to cover an issue she currently has

Are you sure that the ex pat insurance means that she won't have to serve waiting periods anyway?

Hi! Clubman, that's what they told me. She went firstly from Laya Simply Connect to VHI International, and they said she could go back to same level of cover afterwards. Maybe I should have asked for more detail. I understood she would have no waiting periods but I could be wrong.

I don't know if/how expat/international health insurance cover dovetails with waiting periods/exemptions when taking cover back in Ireland. Can't see anything obvious on the HIA website about this.

Why isn't your daughter looking into/after this herself since she's a grown adult?

Thanks, Clubman. I'll g8ve Laya and/or VHI a call on Monday. Good question re why my daughter isn't sorting this out herself - she's all caught up with moving at the moment but also there's an ecoectation that mum sorts this stuff out - I'm making the point to her though that I will only be sorting it this time and no more.
