I went to trade in a 98 civic and 2002 accord against a 2004 accord at the weekend - the dealer was offering me €9k for the two. A 2002 accord of the spec I was trading in (1.8, SE, low mileage, full Honda service history) changes hands for 10k - 11k on the forecourt, nice profit for the garage if I was stupid enought to take him up on his deal.
My lesson - all cars are a waste of money from a depreciation point of view.
Thanks MR2 - the 02 accord retails at dealers country-wide between €10790 - €14950 according to carzone.ie website. So it doesn't take a genius to work out that they are taking this from you at €6k and selling it on at a profit between 5k - 7k!!OK, it won't have an original warranty, but surely a garage warranty of 6 months to 1 year would come with this car on the forecourt? I was expecting to get reamed on the civic, but was shocked with the accord.
I bought a new Renault Scenic1.4 back in 2005. So for anyone considering buying a Renault, DON'T do it unless you want to use it as a garden ornament in a few years time.
Quinno, What Forecourt? The Garage (Main Dealer) could not put these on his forecourt, There two old to sell with a warranty. He sold one car and traded in Two. '98 Civic 3 grand ish '02 Accord 6 grand ish, I would't kick myself with that, Took the hassle of selling them private and being with out a car.
All cars depreciate.
