Have pension fund — can I add to it?

If someone took your advice and did not transfer to the new company scheme, how would they find themselves in the position that they previously transferred in vested service from a previous scheme.
I never advised anybody to transfer to a BOB. I mentioned it here (and elsewhere) as one possibility. Obviously any individual must take responsibility for checking out all the issues that are relevant to their own specific situation and make decisions based on full knowledge of the facts.
Please get off the fence :)
What fence?
I did not argue that it was a bad thing
Eh? You said:
Dealing directly is disaster - hours spent on phone to fresh-faced college kids/summer employees
and then started backpedalling.
I said the problem with it is that most people find the service poor.
Care to substantiate that claim with some objective evidence and not just a vague reference to other commentators etc.?
On this basis you said I was using someone else's idea...please expand :?
Sorry - haven't a clue what you're on about yet again. Where did I say that you were "using somebody else's idea"?

Re: Have pension fund — can I add to it?

You can't be saying that somebody would not transfer to a company scheme because they would have already transferred to a compoany scheme, that is fence sitting.

You also said that I did not have "my own argument" for why direct dealing is bad.
What "my own argument" could I have?
My opinion does not matter - what matters is what most people report on their dealings with insurance companies.
Your experience seems to be magnificent, I am thrilled for you my friend, my comment was that most people find the service unsatisfactory.
You don't :)

Sorry - once again I cannot understand what you are trying to say or how it relates to what I have posted earlier. If you want to address specific points that I have made then please quote them verbatim because your own synopses of what you seem to think I have said seem off the wall most of the time.

No - precisely what I said was:

I am a skeptic. I don't automatically assume that because lots of people say something that it is necessarily true. I certainly don't take the word of somebody who can't explain their argument for themselves.

Feel free to substantiate this sweeping claim when you have had enough of posting irrelevant and sarcastic comments in breach of the posting guidelines. Just because you stick a smiley at the end of such rubbish doesn't ameliorate its irrelevance or annoyance.

Re: Have pension fund — can I add to it?

Hi Mugsgame, I hope my reply to your question was of some interest.

Obviously every case is unique, and my comments are just general - but I hope that they were of some interest, even if you completely disagree with the points that I am making, every case is unique so any information here is just broad advice and specific cases will (of course) vary.
