hi, just bought in greystones, has anyone any suggestions for nightlife, restaurants to go to etc etc. and about the general area?

thanks

Greystones is quiet enough in that respect - bray is more lively and quite close. In the village there are lots of nice place s to eat - the hungry monk - wine bar, jaipur - indian in the shopping centre, vina pasta - italian beside the dart station, bells bistro - on the main street (recommended), royal park - chinese above bookstore. As for pubs there are not too many - there's a new one near charesland which is ok (strips or something like that), the burnaby - bit old :) and the beach house or dans near the sea - best of a bad lot.

Best idea is to drive to sanyford and get the luas to town then get the 2 or 4 am nightlink home :)

thanks a million for the reply, i will start visiting some of these places this very weekend, thanks

Greystones is quiet in that it doesn't have any night club any longer! Latrex or Club Life or the Beach Club depending on which era you belong to closed down a while back for development of apartments! So the residents of Greystones just don't have a night club, doesn't mean to say they don't have a social life!

You have to go to Bray for that or into town as was said above.

Greystones has got alot bigger in recent times and there is a few pubs to choose from and some nice places to eat in.

The hungry monk - wine bar is nice but can be a bit pricey so would recommend it for the special occasions.

jaipur - indian in the shopping centre - The Merridian, very nice, has just opened up, think they have one in Dalkey also.

Vino pasta - can get quite packed, best to book but do reasonable sunday specials etc.

Royal park - chinese above bookshop, near Meridian, then there is new resatuarant Fusion, which is a mixture of a few different cusinies.

Pubs, well the new one near Charlesland is called Script and it's very modern. Have been there a good few nights, nice decor etc, no live music on as yet.
The Burnaby is nice, alot nicer than it used to be!!! It does food also but not at night. As was said atmosphere can be quiet in the burnaby so f it's a quiet pint you want there is the place to go.
Beach House often has a band on and Dans has trad music Fridays and Saturdays and during the week.
The Wicklow Arms in Delany is nice and has music on (most weekends) they also do food.

There is alot to be said for having a nice meal now and again and a drink in the pub in your local town and not having to go to Sandyford, getting public transpot and then the hassle of collecting the car the following day!

Greystones isn't that bad!
