Gillette Labs Razor

I've just bought this in Dunnes at half price apparently, €13.75. Only 1 blade included, I'm sceptical but with the 5 off 25 (I added 32 rolls of loo paper) I suppose it might be worth a rattle..

It will be interesting to see if your blade lasts as along as mine has or if it's just longer then you're normally used to, if even so
One thing I do do that I think helps, is I always make sure the blade is clean after use,
as in I don't allow the shaving cream and hair collect between the blades harden and dry as I think it reduces the efficiency of the blades

I think the addition of the 32 rolls of toilet paper was a bit overkill as I haven't nicked myself yet with this blade ;)

I got one based on your recommendation here and unfortunately say i hate it. It really irritates the areas i use it on (face only). It does give a smooth finish but at a painful price. Possibly im doing it wrong but, for now, i have gone back to the plain old Mach 3.

Interesting I would have thought the opposite
I'm 58 this year and only started wet shaving in the early noughties before that it was an electric shaver
But when I started I found my skin was getting very irritated so I went down the route of oils and gels and other beard softeners
which worked a treat but fast forward to today I now just use the standard Gillette shaving gel but with one difference
I wet my face and head first with just water to soften the beard and hair and it works a treat, no irritation at all

Thats gas,

I thought I was doing well stretching the Gillette Mach 3 for approx 3 months, was quite proud of that till I came across this post..

My only irritation is when my son comes home to visit and, as per usual, asks for a spare new blade, and then bins it within a week..

I enjoy a wet shave, perhaps once a fortnight and using the cheapest BIC razor purchased in the local discount shop. But first I place a small wet towel in our microwave and when heated onto my cheeks and neck (as hot as I can bare). Enter the cheap BIC razor. Magnificent shave and at much less cost.

Good for you Leper , whatever works. I used to buy those BIC and Gillette ones but they were too inconsistent. There were times I threw out one or two out of a pack because they were so poor...

Yeah I'm amazed by this one blade, I found with the Mach 3 I'd get a month but on the final week you knew the blade was done
With the Fusion, it was a good month maybe 5 weeks if you pushed it but this blade has taken it to a whole new level
Now don't get me wrong, it's not as sharp as it used to be, but it still cuts the whiskers without pulling but on the top of my head where the hair is finer/thinner requires extra strokes and even then a bit of fuzz might be left

I don't do this for shaving but I do do it in my morning ablutions routine, it's so refreshing but I might try it in my shaving routine
But I don't think I could ever bring myself to using a "cheap bic", No Sir, there are some lines that cant be crossed ;)

I would say a fusion lasts a month or two, but I find they often get a nick in the blade which renders it unusable.

I think they make a new range really good and over time the quality declines. I think I get less out a blade the longer it's on the market. But perhaps it's my mind playing tricks. I didn't realise they had a new range I must check it out.

Tried Harry's they were ok, an a par rather than better. Found them hard to source in shops on reliable basis.

I remember my dad having those old style razors, but he hardly used it, I was a bit afraid to try it.

Then there's this....

You must be that guy in school in our growing into a man days, we used to slag - 'He's been shaving for a year and he cut himself both times ...' or 'How much is Immac these days ?'
