The IKEA cabinet for freestanding appliances is 1950*600*600 (they do a higher one but my ceiling height is only 2300.

I was thinking about putting a standard fridge (width about 550 say) into the cabintet, and not bother with the cabinet door.

Would it look wrong ?

There would also be space for a microwave in the same housing (on top of the fridge, with a shelf in between........

To me it sounds better than simply resting the fridge on the floor, without a cabinet.

Thats the way I have mine and it looks fine! Shelve and microwave will fill up the space and make it all look neat.

Yep, I'll do it the same way as you did yours Zippidydo I think
I can source a fridge 137cm high, width 54.5cm, depth 60cm.
That will fit quite well in a 195cm cabinet and there is enough room for a shelf and microwave. should look ok..
