Have made decision to go Pippy oak kitchen with beige tile.

Now the story with the doors

There is a lovely pippy oak door I saw in local shop but there is no skirting or arch. to match

Even if I were just to paint the arch. & skirting white I still have the problem that these pippy oak doors dont match any oak flooring I have seen

Is it better to try and match the woods or contrast them in the case of the doors and the floor

Ta:confused:

Joshea, go for the oak kitchen & doors. But I would opt for painting the architraves & skirting in a slightly off-white colour (& definitely not gloss).

Personally, I wouldn't try to match the woods with oak flooring, why not opt for tiles instead? While wood is lovely & warm, too much in one place can be overbearing.

Thanks Rois

Thats a good enough idea

But I worry that the tiles will be too cold

In saying that my sister has wood in most of her living and sun area and she reckons if she has money in the morning the whole lot would come up and she would tile the lot. She has two kids 8 and 10 and does not have to worry about they hurting theie head off the hard tiles

+1 Rois

I have a pippy oak kitchen. I have white oak doors and beige tiles. We painted the skirting and architrave with an off white. It actually breaks up the wood which I feel would become too overbearing otherwise.

If I remember rightly it was a colortrend "french white" Code: 0401W
