Flights not taken, diminished responsibility?

Out of character, a friend took someone’s car went to the airport, parked in the drop off zone (got towed), bought a flight which wasn’t taken, stayed the night in the airport, booked another flight the next day which was not taken either and got on a bus home

The person was since forcibly committed and it looks like an underlying medical (Mental Health) condition contributed to this behaviour. Currently doing scans and awaiting full diagnosis

They now have a credit card bill for both flights of around €1500.

Can anyone advise if there is any recourse of action on this?

very unlikely that you have any legal right.

But you might get a goodwill gesture from the airline if you submit a request backed up by a note from the psychiatrist.
