Hi
I am posting on behalf of my mother who has this policy but it has gone up significantly this year, she's 71 and healthy, she is in Kerry and looking to bring down the cost as it's expensive for a pensioner. Any suggestions?

Just to explain that Flex 500 Explore is the cheapest plan that covers the Bons Secours Tralee without a shortfall payment for hip or knee replacement
surgery. Any cheaper plans will either:
1: NOT cover Bons Secours Tralee.
or/and
2. Will involve a shortfall payment for hip/knee replacement surgery, this is 2000 for Irish Life plans example, Benefit 1 plan @ 772pa, no Bons Secours
Tralee cover.
VHI One Plan 500 @ 760pa but only has 60% hip/knee surgery which means a shortfall of 6000+ to be paid by the patient only in private hospitals.
This plan covers Bons Secours Tralee.

Laya Alternative Option
However, if no cover for Bons Secours Tralee is not a deal breaker, I would recommend considering Laya Precision 600 Connect plan @ 684pa.
No cover in Bons Secours Tralee on this plan, but hip/knee replacement surgery is fully covered(no shortfall,no excess) in other private hospitals.
Example, Mater Private Cork, Galway Clinic etc.
All other surgery is covered with a 600 excess on admission in a list of 13 private hospitals (see HIA.ie for details)
Tralee General Public hospital is covered on this plan.
