Compensation for the cancellation of our holiday. Same as if an airline never got you to your destination. We had plans for the Sunday … and indeed for the week. We’ve had to cancel them all. Monday night reservations in a restaurant for example they’ll keep the deposit we paid. We paid for various services in advance, a cleaner for the house and a box of groceries which will need to be removed now or they’ll be rancid by the time we get there,
Also if we rebook for another week, whenever that it, it might be more expensive.
We should have arrived Sunday afternoon (our original trip was due to arrive Saturday am), the alternatives offered would have been at least 24 hours late. We felt on balance that there was no point in travelling as we’d have missed the key engagements and would be returning after a few days. It’s a long and expensive trip, you don’t do it for a day or two in France, IMO you need a fair few days to make it worthwhile.
