Hi, does anybody know if this is correct? A number of EA's are selling homes in the Fernhill estate, Dublin 12 as Terenure. As far i was am aware, that area is either Perrystown or Walkinstown. Even local businesses in that area advertise as Perrystown.

Are EA's allowed to do that? Is anyone familiar with the area?

Of course they are. Sure Celbridge and Leixlip are both in 'West County Dublin'.. allegedly!

I think the Post Office would be the best place to check, the postal service tend to keep the boundry records as they exist rather that what Developers and EA's would wish them to be.

I think they can, the deeds on a house purchased over 30 years ago in that area have Terenure as the address. A letter will get to Fernhill if you use: Perrystown, Walkinstown, Manor Estate, Terenure and even Greenhills. I am sure there is one or two more choices out there !!

Can confirm it is greenhills as I went to school up the road on Limekiln Lane and all of Limekiln is Greenhills too.

I grew up around here and originally it was classified as Terenure, D6. According to land reg, it is still in the townland of Terenure. EA's will use land reg or post code -depends on which is best for them.
On Postcodes- Their function is to assist in mail delivery, not house valuations. An Post (P&T then) sometimes need to re-align District offices (2, 4, 5, 6 etc) to account for growth. This is what happened many years ago when Fernhill/Greentrees/Whitehall was moved from D6- to the D12 area. More recently it happened in the case of D6/D12 by the creation of D6W.
One thing is clear-Greenhills is not correct. Manor Estate (if you can find it on a map) is.
