VHI Family Mixed VHI Plans

Hi All,

So I currently have VHI Plans - PMI 35 13 for myself (mid 50's), Smart Plan 250 for my younger two sons (21,19) and One Plan 250 daughter (11). The renewal is Jan 1st 2020.

Are there any better value plans available that match current benefits. I have looked at PMI 43/16 & Company Plan Plus 1.3 for myself which are cheaper with slightly higher excess but then they only give 80 or 90% cover for certain procedures while PMI 35 13 gives 100% cover. Don't want to be penny wise and pound foolish at my age. I'm ok with a bit of higher excess but don't want to have to keep cutting benefits. While I am keen to stay with VHI, I would consider a move.

Just to note VHI PMI 43 16 plan will increase to 1304pa from 31st December 2019, so thats knocked on the head.

The following 2 plans are worth considering, details as follows;
1. VHI Company plan plus level 1.3; price 1193pa; all public, private and 3 hi-tech hospitals covered, private excess 150 per admission and 50 per
day case procedure. Good day to day cover included, 50% refund for gp, consultants, dental etc.

2. Laya Simply Connect; price 1230pa; all public, private and 3 hi-tech hospitals covered, private excess capped at 150 x 2 per year for all
admissions. Day case excess 50 per procedure. Good day to day cover, 50% refund for gp, consultant etc upto a yearly max of 500
(50% of 1000 = 500).

Your 2 sons are on the best value plan at the moment, but for your daughter aged 11, I would switch her onto 'VHI One Plan 150 @ price 197pa
just 4 euro extra for a much lower excess to a private hospital.
