Hi my current contract in work is 39 hours basic after that time and half and I get night rate and Sunday rate. But never get overtime now. Now our company are sending us letters and forms to sign to change my terms and conditions that I will get 48 hours basic pay and no night rate and only time and half after the 48hours. It don't really guarantee 48 hours just says potential to get 48 if I sign. In some ways would suit if I could 4 twelve hours shifts a week less driving to work. At the moment I am on 8 hour days so 5 days a week. The union have wrote telling us not to sign. But some managers are telling us to sign and others arent hard to know what to do. But if I could get 48 hours every week would actually earn alot more. Can they force me to change my T&C's? I am full time permanent.

Are you building this great plan up in your head,or has anyone in authority in your company actually told you that 4x12s will be available?
However,is the new contract guaranteeing 39 hrs a week?

If your union are recommending you don't sign I'd ask them what their reasons are and if you think it measures up then take their advice.

Without seeing the contract it's hard to know but I wonder if it's a minimum hours contract?

In other words, you may not be guaranteed the 39 hours a week that you currently have and your hours may change from week to week, which makes it very hard to ensure that you have a regular income.
