Education loan helps in saving income tax?

Can anyone say how this educational (medical study) loan helps in saving my income tax? I have heard that if I have taken loan I have to pay less income tax. Can someone please explain me how it can be done?
Soon I am going to start my first job with HSE, as a doctor.

You may find some information here under tuition fees. If you run a search on the www.revenue.ie site itself you may find something further.

Not sure if www.citizensinformation.ie would have anything but it is handy to know about that site either way.

Hi Ellen,

I have checked revenue and citizeninformation page as well already but couldn't find anything for my case.

I studied in another EU country where I paid about 8000 Euros annually for 6 years as tuition fees and now I am about to start work in Ireland.
I cant find correct information whether the tuition fees relief applies to me or not. I have educational loan from my home country (not Ireland) which I have to start repaying from coming summers.

I am only aware of tax relief on tuition fees paid. In Ireland there is no relief for loans taken out to pay for education.
