Eagle Star AVC

I know I won't likely get a lot of support for my view....

If your brother has no particular financial expertise and is unlikely to monitor his fund and fund choice, then I'm a great believer in following the default investment strategy.

Be aware also that Eagle Star's four 5*5 funds are considered higher-risk funds. They each contain only 25 shares. In my opinion, the 5*5 funds are suitable only for people who fully understand and are comfortable with a high risk strategy.

In general I believe that anybody with 30+ years to retirement should at least consider high equity content/risk-reward funds. However in many cases something more diversified than a concentrated fund such as 5*5 might be appropriate. Difficult to make more specific comments than this in the absence of detailed info about the individual's overall circumstances.
