Currently on “Company Plan” from VHI but this policy has recently expired, it’s almost €1,500 and ideally I’d like to find something a bit cheaper.

No doctors visits needed.

Any recommendations for something similar that’s a little cheaper? I don’t mind slightly higher excesses as I assume that’s the easiest way to get the premium down

Replying to myself but I found “PMI 53 10” which seems decent, only €40 cheaper but seems to give better cover unless I’m missing something…even though I don’t particularly need GP coverage it’d be nice to get acupuncture cover etc

Anyone have any other recommendations for similar policies / slightly cheaper ones?

Don't think you are going to get something cheaper that won't affect the quality of cover.

Charlie Weston recently quoted Dermot Goode totalhealthcover.ie as recommending PMI4316 but the premium is €1,455.80 and your PMI 5310 is cheaper at €1,422.55. The two policies vary with some aspects of cover and excesses which would need to be compared carefully.

Dermot Goode also mentioned a while back that €1,500 would be the average price for a good policy on one of his podcasts.

VHI should be able to guide you to see if there is anything else suitable.

It's a shame that private health insurance policies cover pseudoscientific quack stuff like this and we might all be paying less if they didn't.
And we all have to pay cover re treatment re substance abuse, alcohol treatment centre care and cover for pregnancy, I believe whether it ever applied or will apply and psychiatric care also, so why can’t we choose what applies when we are paying so much. At this stage alcohol treatment will not apply to me so why am I paying for my colleagues treatment who pays for a basic plan. Of course Alcahol is a taboo subject one must not raise in ireland.

Is there such a thing as similar to PMI 53 10 but without doctor cover? don’t need it anymore due to a medical card. Surely that should reduce the cost of the policy. Would be a bonus to still have acupuncture cover but not the end of the world

Transform Plus from Laya (above) appears to be a better overall policy than VHI PMI 5310 and is some €40 cheaper.
I don't think you'll make any great savings by leaving out GP day to day cover? Not even sure if the possibility exists?

Am I missing something? Seems like a lot of the laya policy says “including Beacon” which makes me think it’s not covering some other hospitals

Next thing I need to look is finding a plan similar to PMI 5310 but not having the 20% shortfall, hmmm. That’d be a bonus and probably worth an extra bit
