Hi,

Does anyone have any experience using Doddl as their mortgage advisor versus a regular broker?

I spoke with a traditional broker who was dismissive of Doddl and referred to them as "just a call center" compared to him as someone with 25 years of experience in the market.

I am a first-time buyer and still getting my head around all the steps and jargon.

Thanks!

From looking at their website, Doddl just look like a regular mortgage broker.

A friend used them for her mortgage. She could only say good things about them at each stage she handed off to someone who knew the case. My friend had a hit problem with AIB due an old credit card with an almost 10 years ago . So doddle lined up BOI instead. She keeps praising them.

In fairness, asking one broker what they think of another broker is a bit of a silly question.

Of course he was going to say how great he was with 25 years experience and that his competitors are rubbish...

Yes, I have used Doddl to get my mortgage.
I found them excellent at each stage of the process and I would have no hesitation using them again or recommending them to anyone. Whenever I had any query, it was always promptly dealt with. I was very happy with their service so I'm happy to recommend them on my experience.

We dealt with Martina Hennessy in Doddl for our mortgage - she and her team were outstanding.

I have recommended them to several family and friends who all had positive experiences.

I used Doddl in 2022 when switching and couldn't speak more highly of them. All completed via email. Any questions were answered promptly so no waiting around. I was going with Avant and they were conscious of the rate increasing so I really appreciated their work. I actually meant to email to say thank you but never got around to it. Really fantastic customer service and it made up for having a pain in the This post will be deleted if not edited to remove bad language solicitor (who I have actually seen recommended in another thread but each to their own!)

Thank you for all the replies!

A further questions, what is the art of getting a decent mortgage quote, I wonder. It seems pretty straightforward from the bank side - each lender has slightly different requirements, from what I gather, but on the whole the numbers speak for themselves, don't they?

I am asking bc Doddl got me one quote and a different mortgage advisor just explained to me that he decides, based on my numbers, which single lender to approach. Doddl checks them all.

Is there anything to be gained by working with an "experienced" mortgage advisor rather than with the likes of Doddle?

The danger here if they apply to all at once and you have some credit history problem (not of your making) then you're goosed with all of them.

I has that exact same scenario 12 years ago. BoI recorded a missed payment against me on a rental property while adjusting/correcting post my making a successful claim to the Fin ombudsman.

My mortgage broker applied to AIB and they bounced it back as rejected immediately, she was able to determine the reason from an AIB contact.

I immediately got on to BoI and got them to correct and issue a letter explaining the issue.

The mortgage broker said there was no point even going back to AIB, regardless of letter, they'd marked be as a delinquent payer.

Get your credit history checked prior to applying anywhere, when your explaining your losing.

Sounds like nonsense , he will approach whoever pays him the most commission.
