There is no exemption for persons on Disability Allowance (or any other social welfare payment). LPT payments can be made on a monthly basis, they don't have to be paid in one lump sum.
There may be an exemption from LPT or a reduction in the rate for a property that has been adapted for a person with a disability. See Revenue guidelines here
Hi Folks
I am thinking ten years down the line here. I am currently living with my parents and i am on disability allowance. They are leaving me the house. We got the property tax for our house today and it came to 350 euro. Now i will give them a bit towards it. But i doubt i will be able to pay the full thing when they pass away and i am the sole occupant of the house.
So i am just wondering whether i can get out of paying this tax, given i am on disability allowance? Is there any allowance towards it? If i could get it for a 100 euros i would pay no bother. 350 euros i just dont have.
thanks in adavance.
I assume i can do this, given i have got no replies,
See here for deferral options, not interest accrues on the balance.
But can i defer it (on the grounds of low income) until i die and then when my house is sold, they take the money from that? I dont mind doing that. I dont have any partner or children, so i would probably have to sell the house and distibrute the money to charities or something. I cannot take it with anyhow, to heaven.
