It's a real shame that Dublin City Council ceased (?) the Passport for Leisure scheme.

The Woodies discount is on Thursdays only, a 10% "Senior Citizens" discount...
OPW Heritage cards is €30 for over 60s, normal price is €40

Do you know at what age do you become a "Senior Citizen" for Woodies purposes?
Seems to be down to cashiers judgement.
I've gotten it most times and I'm a few years short of 60, makes my day if I'm honest.
In my world frugality trumps vanity.
60 and they told me recently it was Tuesday and Thursday
yes they never ask or look for proof, a friend of mine who is 55 is regularly given it, mind you I think she looks even younger than that!

You'd want to suffer from dimentia and be senior to shop at Woodies and pay their prices which are at least 50% more than what you'd pay elsewehere such as screwfix.

Was about to post similar. Most of those big stores are far more expensive for most of their products. Big stores, lots of advertising, and the amount of stock that gets damaged on display are expensive. They can be fine for some heavily advertised items, but you need to do your homework.
Agree but stick my head in and sometimes get a bargain.. last time was a small metal stepladder for 11.99 and after Christmas picked up Christmas tree lights at 60% discount.
Their own branded stuff is dreadfully poor quality especially the paint, painful lesson years ago.
Not entirely true! If you watch what you are buying you can do well, I got a Karcher window washer last year and Woodies was cheaper than anywhere else even before the discount and I did check Screwfix as well as many others! I also bought rolls of attic insulation there few years ago for cheaper than everywhere else including all local builders providers.
Same as any purchase, shop around.
That's it in a nutshell.
