Dental Benefit question

Hi all,

Recently I had to get a tooth taken out. I had applied for a medical card and I really wanted to wait until I got it before going to the dentist but in the end I couldn't. There was a lump which was growing and growing so I was really worried and borrowed money from a friend.

The following week the medical card arrived. Is there anyway to claim back some help towards the €95 extraction now? The medical card should entitle me to two emergency fillings, one extraction and an examination per year. I definitely do not expect to be arranging another extraction!

Not sure? I think it may depend on your dentist. Same thing happened my sister but it was for the doctor. She went back to the doctor and they refunded her the money. They told her to go to the chemist too and that they should refund her the money too as it was a large bill. I don't think they did and the doctors office was very surprised. Not sure how it worked out int he end.

I would contact the dentist asap and explain that the medical card came through immediately after getting the treatment and see if they will refund. If it goes on to long they probably wont. Good Luck!

Hi,

I have applied for a medical card, though I havent got it yet, I did get a text from them confirming I was approved and the card number, which I could quote in the meantime.

So I would try getting my money back if I were you.

Thanks for the info re the dental care. I too need an extraction!!! Now Ive no excuse!!!

kind regards
