Ordered the spec above for €995, and happy as Larry.
The next day, an even better offer appears in the Saturday paper! :eek :
Better processor - 3.0GHz, 800MHz fsb instead of 2.8GHz, 533MHz fsb)
Better RAM - 512MB DDR2 400Mhz instead of DDR 333Mhz
Better HDD - 160GB Serial ATA instead of IDE
15" Flat Panel Monitor instead of a 17" CRT
...for an additional €90 or so.
Day after that, an even better offer arrives through the email:
Free 17" Flat Panel Monitor Upgrade (equivalent viewing area to a 19" CRT, or practically)
Free Dell 720 Printer
Free Delivery
And a promotional code giving 5% off the total price..?!? :eek :eek :eek
Net price of the new system: €1064.

Got on the 'phone and insisted that the sales guy forward my irate e-mail to his manager in Bray, got a 'phone number, bent his ear and — fair dues — he rang me back a couple of hours later and OK'd it for me to cancel the previous order (which had been delivered 5 days previous, but was sitting unopened in the box until I got some satisfaction...). They're going to collect the old system and deliver the better one — total extra cost to me €69.
So now I'm a happy Dell customer...
