Cruise Control

Renault Fluence 2010.
My cruise control has stopped working. It has been becoming increasingly difficult to switch on of late requiring repeated pressing of the button but now won't engage at all. Any ideas as to the possible issue ? Faulty switch or blown fuse, maybe. I do quite a lot of motorway driving and find the CC useful in terms of reducing fuel consumption so would like to get it operational again. Thanks.

Faulty switch or blown fuse, maybe.
Have you checked the fuses?
In my experience Renaults/Dacias are terrible for basic electrical issues - e.g. wires/switches breaking.
Both brands share many components and common platforms.
I've mentioned a few of my issues with my Dacia Sandero here before.
I presume that you've done a Google search to find relevant forums where such things are discussed?

Hello. Yes, I'm a member of a couple of Renault owner forums on Facebook. The opinion there throws up a number of possible causes such as broken switch, blown fuse and also faulty brake light switch which is located on the brake pedal and is linked to the cruise control operation in some way. I think the control switch on the steering wheel is faulty or damaged in some way. I imagine it would be difficult and expensive to repair.
