Courier Scam

Not sure if this has been flagged before but no harm reminding people anyway.

A young neighbour got an email last week supposedly from a well known national courier company, it had their logo address etc.

The email said they had tried to deliver a package, it could now be collected from their depot, or for a fee of €2.40 they would try again, click here to pay.

Like many at the moment packages were expected, it’s only €2.40 so the link was clicked, card number entered and the modest amount paid.

They tried to take over €900, it failed as there was not that much in the account and never is.

The bank made contact inquiring if it was authorised.

Received an email yesterday from DPD about a package. Wasn't expecting one. Could see in the preview it started with "Dear Valued Customer...", so was suspected it was a scam. Couriers normally contact by phone.
The email was flagged as spam by Gmail. I've now received another one from UPS, again flagged as spam.

Everyday i got tons of letters from different fake companies.
That is the work of guys from India or Pakistan.o_O

Why don't the authorities prosecute them?

They do occasionally, but it's a challenge due to the cross-border nature of most of these, and the fact that very few people actually report them.
