cost of building a basement?

HI All,
I have planning in for a 3500sq ft house. the reasons its that big is because we have included a basement in the plans. I have since heard that the costs can be quite high for basements and am wondering if anyone has any idea what these costs are. I am having difficulty getting a straight answer on costs. the basement is about 800 sq ft in size and shaped as a rectangle.
i would really appreciate any help on this.

Hi,
Building here in Donegal. Basement in our house is roughly the same size - about 900 sq ft. Hard to be precise about costs but I would estimate about E35 - E40k. Our basement has mass concrete on 3 sides and will have brickwork on the 4th (house is on a slope so will have doors and windows at one end). Costs include Bison slabs on top of the basement (5k).
Delighted with how it looks, plan to put a bar down there!
