Convert from electric storage heating to gas central heating

Hi,

I got a quote today for converting from electric central heating to natural gas heating. It's a small house and the quote of just over €5K covered the removal of the existing system as well as the new gas boiler, 5 rads, new cylinder, timers etc. The guy I was dealing with sounded very professional and really seemed to know his stuff and I'm just wondering if this quote sounds reasonable.

Thanks,
Scholesy.

Hi Scholesy, welcome to AAM. 5k doesn't sound too bad. Take a look at the Key Post on central heating, or use the search facility to search this forum, you'll find some advice on this matter.

Hi Scholesy,

We paid €3900 for the same (although we removed the storage heating ourselves and that was a job and a half). I found the threads here most useful in checking the efficiency of the boiler so do take advantage of this site and check this. Our quote was €3000 under the other two quotes we recieved so reckoned it was a good deal!
