Considering PIA or Bankruptcy, Living Abroad and want to move home to Ireland

Hi everyone

I need some advice. I am living abroad but really want to get back home, buy a house and live an Irish life with my family.

In 2008 I left Ireland after the crash. I have secured debt and some unsecured debt which I paid into for some time but due to a growing family and living expenses I could not service my debts back home. My secured loans were sold by my bank and I am bombarded with letters and threats constantly. I know that I must sort out my finances if I am ever to have a chance of getting back home. I read up about PIA's and Bankruptcy but it seems to apply to those living in Ireland only.

Does anyone know how my situation can be dealt with or know of someone in the same boat as me? Should I contact a PIP, can anyone recommend someone ?

Thank you.

To avail of bankruptcy or a PIA here you need to show that your "Centre of main interest" (COMI) is here.

If you moved back a PIA might work for you.

Alternatively, you could consider bankruptcy in the country you are currently living in.
