Composters and rats

Has anyone used this [broken link removed] thingy at all? The blurb seems to reckon that it eliminates any problems with rats/flies even though it can take "all cooked and uncooked food waste, including meat, fish, bones, dairy products, fruit and vegetables"...

Interesting idea but I just wonder if it works in practise!

€165 for the Gree Cone versus €30 for a standard compost bin from ? For the sake of €135 I think I'd make do with managing the composition of a standard heap to minimise the risks of flies/pests!

Er, you can't put poison in a composter otherwise the compost is useless!!
I was planning to put it in a pipe in the tunnel leading from the neighbour's garden, not in the actual compost bin itself, with the entrance to the composter blocked so it can't carry the poison into the bin.

I have two free-loading cats who are obviously too well fed if they haven't managed to scare whatever it is off! ;)
