Clarify the CPD requirements for a QFA for 2012?

Hi

Is there anyone who can clarify the CPD requirements for a QFA for 2012? I know it is 15 formal hours, 4 of which can be obtained by reading and assimilating the CPD Annual update 2012 but after that I am a bit stumped.

I have completed 6 modules on the CPD.ie site on Anti Money Laundering, Ethics in Financial Services, Protection, Life Assurance Underwriting, Financial Services Ombudsman, Succession and Estate Planning.

Now looking at the requirements in more detail, I'm not sure if I should have picked different modules or if the above is ok.

check the CPD requirements from LIA or IOB whichever you're associated to, below is from IOB

The total annual CPD requirement is 15 formal hours.

From 2012, QFAs must complete at least one hour of CPD each year relevant to each
of the five categories of product in respect of which the QFA designation is recognised (and the Insurance categories if also accredited in these product categories).

Where a CPD event/course is relevant for more than one category, a person completing such a course/event will be deemed to have met the requirement in respect of each category.

QFAs must also complete at least one hour of CPD each year which relates to
Ethics.
 
It is confusing for sure, as you completed your online CPD your record was being updated, just go into the site and check how many hours were credited to you as formal for completing each module.

My read on what you have posted is that you have fully completed your formal requirements, you should now go to submit your annual return online not forgeting to manually input the 4 formal hours credit available for the assimilation of the annual update, that return will reflect the completed modules as indicated in your post and will act as a self check, you'll see what I mean when you get that far.

Thank you both for your replies. Return for 2012 done and dusted. When doing my return and entering the annual cpd update (4 Hr credit) as part of it, the system came up with a message to say that by using the annual report this covered the need to have the one hour per category required for the year.
