I baked chocolate chip cookies and chocolate brownies with the kids at the weekend. The brownies turned out great but the cookies didn’t. They looked good coming out of the oven but they kind of collapsed, like they were deflating, as they cooled.
Have any AAMer’s any ideas why this happened?
How dare you! (Insert smilie for puffed-up indignation) I will place you on my ignore list (as if you'd care).... oh no, wait, that's what other posters say to me... you may be right but I hope not since I do all the cooking in our house. You are rubbish at cooking perhaps ??
Collapsed; were buiscuit shaped (round and raised up) when they came out of the oven but then it was as if all the little bubbles inside burst and they ended up looking more like little piles of dog sick.Explain collapsed ? was it under cooked or crumbled or something else.
To avoid further failures in the chocolate chip cookie department...
(1) Make mixture with kids. Arrange on baking tray. Put in oven.
(2) Entice kids to watch their favourite DVD whilst you slip down the shops.
(3) Buy a packet of REAL chocolate chip cookies.
(4) Once home chuck the crap on the baking tray.
(5) Briefly microwave the shop-bought cookies (remembering to unwrap them first) and quickly tip them onto baking tray.
(6) Summon kids to wonder at your culinary prowess.
Now that's how real Daddies bake!
Note: Small kids should not be left alone for extended periods unless left with a box of matches or some such thing to keep them amused.
When I was a kid, as my elder sister mixed the ingredients together, my younger brother and I would fight over who could wash the bowl - so we could "clean" it by rubbing our index finger all around (and then licking it) before sinking the bowl into sudsy warm water. Yummie yummie
