Child Maintenance - what's a fair payment?

If a couple are separating, both parents create and sign an affidavit of means and affidavit of welfare.

Once custody, living arrangements and visitation are agreed; the only concern re payment of child maintenance is the parent's income and outgoings.

One is not dependent on the other.

I agree that in cases of separation / divorce, the primary concern is the welfare of any children; this comes to the fore particularly when disposition of the family home is under discussion.

In the OPs case, the couple clearly do not intend to raise their child together; the OPs only question is in relation to maintenance.

I think the bottom out of this question is: If she took you to a district court, you could potentially end up paying €650 per month, i.e., €150 per week. So €100 per week without any arguing seems fair, yes.

I would echo what some others have said in this thread about priorities and mindset. I'd also focus on how you can support your ex when the child is born. There isn't a stage I can recall in the early years that is easy in raising children.
